A graciously proportioned prewar duplex at 125 East 72nd Street, a corner combination situated to capture open city views to the north and east, ignited an uptown bidding war and sold for $12,315,000, the most expensive sale of the week, according to city records.
The self-billed “grandmother of performance art,” Marina Abramovic, who in 2010 famously sat, silent and still, inside the Museum of Modern Art for some 736 hours, has sold her Soho co-op for $3.2 million, city records show.
Much ink has been spilt this past week over the $9.85 million sale of 64 Perry Street, the West Village townhouse that supposedly stood in for Carrie Bradshaw’s stoop on “Sex and the City.” While the hoopla is somewhat misplaced – it was actually No. 66 that served as the famous façade – the circumstances of the sale do involve a love affair. At least, of the real estate variety.
